What’s in a name? | Our favourite conference room themes

As experts in the conference industry, we’ve come across some weird and wonderful conference room names. For us, the best conference room names have one thing in common: they follow a set theme. Large companies often choose themes that connect people to the company, while making them feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves. In addition to this, some organisations choose to follow themes that relate directly to their business. For example, Twitter’s conference rooms are named after birds, while Elon Musk’s space travel company SpaceX, has named their conference rooms after famous astronauts and scientists.

Here are our top 5 themes:

Global (or local) landmarks

Landmarks are an awesome idea for conference room themes because they are likely to resonate with at least a few conference attendees. If you’re thinking global, some options include the Statue of Liberty, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower and the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Alcohol

This is one of our favourite themes for large companies that have multiple meeting rooms. People often go for local craft beers but we also love the idea of using summer cocktails as inspiration.

Composers

For those looking to go a little more old-school, we’d like to present you with the “Best Composers of All Time” theme. I mean, who wouldn’t want to walk into a conference room named after Mozart or Beethoven?

Tech Leaders

Imagine kick-starting attendees’ motivation by leading them through the doors of a conference room named after their favourite Tech Leader. Think of Musk… Gates… Zuckerberg… Bezos… the list goes on.

Plants

There are numerous scientific studies that prove that having plants in a workspace can have a multitude of positive effects on the workforce. These benefits include increasing productivity, reducing stress and boosting creativity to name a few. Some people have taken these studies so seriously that they’ve even named their conference rooms after their favourite flora, and we love it!
